Organizational Description:

The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit making NGO with Country Programme Offices in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic,  Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Liberia, Republic of Congo, Tanzania, and Uganda.  AIRD’s objective is to offer operational technical support, including but not limited to: supply chain, logistics and infrastructure in partnership with relief and development organisations that focus on disaster-affected, poverty-infested and development oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organisations and governments.

AIRD is currently seeking for a dynamic qualified individual to fill the position below to form part of its team. The positions require a flexible person, with the capacity to perform with minimal supervision to fulfill the organization’s goals. Required Languages: Must be conversant in English and French (written and spoken).





Key Duties and Responsibilities

1. General management

  • Ensure that all staff understand the basic M&E procedures and fully implement them within their daily operations
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with all partners and potential donors in the areas of operation
  • Motivate staff and build strong team spirit at all levels
  • Supervise support staff to improve quality and efficiency of administrative matters
  • Adhere to all AIRD SOPs
  • Any other tasks as directed by management

2. Project Delivery

  • Serve as the focal point for M&E between AIRD Country Program and  Head Office
  • Coordinate M&E implementation, capacity building, sharing and learning
  • Coordinate within the organization to ensure accurate, thorough and useful monitoring and reporting of project activities and impacts, both internally and externally
  • Develop M&E systems with standard procedures and process to ensure credible, reliable, timely and cost-effective monitoring of data decisions, strategic planning and uphold accountability
  • Coordinate evaluations, ensuring that they are timely, useful and ethical, upholding the international criteria and standards.
  • Lead the adaption of specific planning, assessment, monitoring and evaluation and reporting tools for consistent and quality data collection, coherent with and reinforcing international guidelines for M&E and reporting
  • Provide technical guidance to program staff, incorporating appropriate M&E systems into project based on needs, Head Office and donor requirements, resources and capacities.
  • Prepare and train staff, primary stakeholders and partners, as necessary on project design, monitoring and evaluation concepts, skills and tools
  • Develop an inventory of reliable secondary data sources of key statistics to contribute to M&E, and to reduce the use of time and resources in primary data collection, as well as the negative impact among the target persons
  • Conduct quality control checks of M&E work, overseeing the recording and reporting of progress and performance of the operation compared to targets
  • Network and coordinate with UNHCR, partners and other international organizations
  • Introduce and maintain M&E forums among stakeholders to discuss and support quality programming and accountability standards
  • Apply lessons learned from project M&E to improve future project selection, design and implementation.

Required Languages:

Education Qualifications, experience and skills

  • Bachelors Degree or higher in Social Sciences, Statistics or other related degree. 
  • Detailed knowledge of log frame-based project design, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Conducting and/or supervising needs assessments and surveys, and quantitative data analysis.
  • Social research methodologies, including highly-developed analytical and communication skills and the ability to assimilate and process information for wide-ranging audiences.
  • Ability to train project staff on various M&E aspects.
  • Basic understanding of humanitarian operations, as well as gender, protection, social or human vulnerability issues.
  • Interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity.
  • Knowledge of donor groups and/or issues related to the program area.
