Liberia Program donates beds and wheel chairs to Bahn Health Centre

AIRD Liberia Program on 21st December 2017 donated 26 beds, 26 mattresses and 2 wheel chairs to Bahn Health Centre. The donations were a token of appreciation to the community where AIRD works. This was part of our 10th Anniversary celebrations.  The items which included 20 wooden beds, 6 metallic beds, 26 mattresses and 2 wheel chairs were to boost the health Centre’s resources.

The Program decided on the donation after consultations with UNHCR Liberia, Government authorities and the local leadership in Bahn located in Nimba County. The gaps were identified in the health sector as the area prepares for the integration phase. Bahn Health Center which serves both refugees and the host community has been undergoing expansion to meet the demand of health services by the increased population.

The Program’s senior management staff handed over the donations to the Regional Coordinator of the Liberian Refugee Repatriation and Resettlement commission (LRRRC) which is the Government arm in charge of refugees. The LRRRC Coordinator handed the items to the Mayor of Bahn Town Council and Bahn Health centre Management Team.

The function was graced by representation from Liberian Government, AIRD staff from various locations of Monrovia, Saclepea, Zwedru and Harper, Bahn town council leadership, refugees and the host community leadership.
