AIRD seeks to support displaced families and communities, as well as host communities,

AIRD has been intrinsically connected to humanitarian response work that has shaped the programmes since its inception. As many countries are moving to “Stabilisation and Maintenance” or “Nexus” programming, AIRD is also interested in bringing their skills into this area, with a long term focus on Development. Being responsive to changing social, political and environmental circumstances is essential in all of our work, and will continue to be evidenced through responsiveness and adaptability, along with innovative approaches to responding.

Promoting

Self-sufficiency

To promote self-sufficiency, AIRD trains refugees and host communities to grow vegetables in schools and local gardens, as well as in income-generating activities like beekeeping, among others. These initiatives help refugees and their host communities achieve economic stability, coexist harmoniously, and ensure food security
