The African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD) is a non-political, non-religious and non-profit making NGO with Country Programme Offices in Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chad, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Liberia, Niger, Tanzania, Uganda and South Sudan. AIRD’s objective is to offer operational support, including but not limited to: supply chain, logistics, construction, infrastructure, environment, livelihoods and WASH in partnership with relief and development organizations that focus on disaster-affected and development oriented areas. AIRD delivers for and through partners including but not limited to UN Agencies, international and national donor organizations and governments.

AIRD in Ethiopia seeks to recruit a qualified and motivated Finance Assistant to be based in Semera-Afar, Ethiopia to support a BHA-USAID funded WASH Project being implemented in partnership with MTI

The Finance Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the financial operations of an organization, ensuring financial process are carried out efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

·       Processing financial transactions such as invoices, expenses and payments.

·       Maintaining accurate financial records and data entry into accounting system

·       Assist with the preparation of financial reports, budgets and forecasts

·       Reconciling bank statements and accounts payable/receivable

·       Assisting in the preparation of tax returns and compliance tasks

·       Supporting finance team members with ad hoc tasks and projects

·       Communicating with vendors, clients, and internal stakeholders regarding financial matters.

·       Following organizational financial policies and procedures

Qualifications, experience and skills

·       Educational background in finance, accounting, or a related field (a degree or relevant certification may be required)

·       Strong numerical and analytical skills

·       Proficiency in using financial software and Microsoft Excel

·       Attention to detail and accuracy in financial record keeping

·       Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.

·       Organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks

·       Knowledge of basic accounting principles and financial regulations

  • 3 years previous experience in finance related role may be preferred especially in a humanitarian setting.
