In 2024, Rhino Camp High School benefited from AIRD’s support through a vegetable production initiative. This project not only enhanced food security within our school but also provided our students with hands-on learning in modern agricultural practices. The availability of fresh vegetables contributed greatly to improving the nutrition of both students and staff while fostering a spirit of responsibility and teamwork among learners.

AIRD expanded its support to our school in 2025 by introducing a mass cassava production project. After fruitful consultations with the beneficiaries, it was agreed that AIRD would support us with land ploughing and the provision of cassava cuttings, while the school community took charge of planting and crop maintenance,” Martin Sanyu, a Headmaster of Rhino Camp High School, says

“Our students, guided by their teachers, actively participated in this exercise, gaining valuable agricultural skills that will benefit them far beyond the classroom. We expect the harvest in the third quarter of 2026, and this will not only boost food availability in the school but also serve as a source of income to support other school needs,” he adds.

With this collaboration, six acres of cassava have already been planted.

“On behalf of Rhino Camp High School, I wish to express my deepest appreciation to AIRD for their continued support. These initiatives have empowered our school to take practical steps toward self-reliance, improved student welfare, and skill development. The vegetable and cassava production projects stand as a testimony of what partnership, commitment, and community participation can achieve,” Martin says.
