At the Musenyi Refugee Site in the Makamba intervention zone, thousands of displaced families face daily challenges in securing necessities. For many refugees, access to food remains one of the most urgent needs as they work to rebuild their lives in safety and dignity.
To address this challenge, AIRD, in close coordination with UNHCR, is successfully implementing a large-scale food distribution operation that is currently benefiting more than 17,000 refugees. Through careful planning, effective logistics management, and the dedication of AIRD teams on the ground, essential food items, including cereals, flour, cooking oil, and salt, are reaching vulnerable households in a timely and organized manner.
The distribution process has been designed to ensure fairness, transparency, and efficiency. Prior household registration and the allocation of beneficiaries by designated zones have helped maintain order throughout the exercise, allowing families to receive their food rations with dignity and minimal waiting time.
For refugee families, this assistance represents more than just food. It provides relief from uncertainty, improves household food security, and enables parents to focus on the well-being of their children. Access to regular food supplies helps reduce vulnerability and strengthens the resilience of communities facing difficult circumstances.
This operation reflects AIRD’s commitment to delivering effective and sustainable humanitarian assistance to populations in need. By successfully managing the logistics and supervision of a complex intervention of this scale, AIRD continues to demonstrate its capacity to respond to humanitarian emergencies while supporting the protection and welfare of displaced people.
As food reaches thousands of families across Musenyi Refugee Site, the impact extends beyond immediate nourishment it restores hope, dignity, and confidence that vulnerable communities have not been forgotten.
